Furmax standing desk panel: presets, reset and codes

Four buttons run a Furmax electric desk: 1, 2, up and down. Here is what they do, how to save a height and what the letters on the screen mean.

The panel

Up, down and two memory buttons

Hold the up or down arrow and the top moves. Let go and it stops where it is. It also stops by itself at the highest and the lowest point.

If the top touches something on its way, it stops and backs off a little.

  1. 01

    Save a height

    Bring the top to the height you want. Hold the 1 button for 3 seconds until the screen shows S-1. Button 2 saves a second height the same way.

  2. 02

    Go to a saved height

    Press 1 or 2 briefly. The top travels to that height on its own.

What the letters on the screen mean

S-1
The current height is saved to button 1.
RST
The desk is ready to reset. Keep holding the down arrow: the top goes to the bottom, rises a little and the screen shows the lowest height. Then let go.
ER1
A motor fault message. Switch the power off, check that the motor cable and the control box cable sit firmly, switch on again and run the reset.
LOC
The child lock is on and the buttons do nothing. Hold up and down together for more than 5 seconds to turn it off. The same hold turns it on.
hot
The motor is warm from too many trips up and down in a row. Height changes pause for about 18 minutes, then the desk works again.

How to reset a Furmax standing desk

  1. 01

    Start at the bottom

    Lower the top as far as it goes, or start from ER1 on the screen.

  2. 02

    Hold down until RST

    Hold the down arrow for more than 3 seconds, until the screen shows RST. Let go.

  3. 03

    Hold down again

    Hold the down arrow once more. The top goes to the bottom, comes up a little and shows the lowest height. Then let go.

Height

One preset for sitting, one for standing

OSHA’s guide to computer workstations asks a desk for range: Desks should be able to accommodate a variety of working postures. Occupational Safety and Health Administration

For sitting, leave room for your legs. The same guide puts it this way: Clearance for the legs, under the desktop, should generally be between 20-28 inches (50-72 cm) high. Occupational Safety and Health Administration

For standing, save the second button. OSHA suggests moving some work to your feet: Perform some of your tasks in standing: computing, reading, phone, meetings. Occupational Safety and Health Administration

How do I reset my Furmax standing desk?

Hold the down arrow for more than 3 seconds until RST shows, let go, then hold it again until the top reaches the bottom and comes back up a little.

What does ER1 mean on a Furmax desk?

ER1 is the motor fault message. Switch the power off, check the motor and control box cables, switch on and run the reset.

Why does my Furmax desk say hot?

The motor ran up and down too often in a row. Height changes pause for about 18 minutes and then come back.
